Interviews matter more than any other part of the application. Admissions officers use interviews to get a direct sense of students (and parents) to see if they fit into the school culture.

I help students learn the skills that go into a top level interview. Depending on the student’s age, these can include vocal techniques, methods to direct conversations, using storytelling archetypes to create unforgettable answers, and advanced techniques (e.g. parallel conversation threads).

The key to interview training is to make sure the student can deliver a natural, authentic interview. Often, parents and coaches attempt to have students deliver complex, scripted answers. The result is that they sound like prisoners of war reading text for a video recording. Great interviews aren’t exercises in fakery; they are about learning to present the truth more effectively.

Basic interview training usually involves around 5–10 sessions. Advanced training can involve a lot more, but is not usually necessary for an admissions interview.
